Hello From Mr. Smith!

Hello West Park Elementary Parents and Families,

It is an honor to introduce myself as the new Principal of West Park Elementary. I am beyond excited to join this amazing school community and continue providing our children with the highest quality learning experience to grow academically, socially, physically, and emotionally.

I have worked as an educator and administrator in the greater Nashville area for the past 14 years. My experience includes serving as Dean of Culture in an urban elementary setting, Principal Designee of a Title I elementary school, District Coordinator of math, science, and arts for all middle schools in Sumner County Schools, and finally Principal of Station Camp Middle School, a suburban middle school located just north of Nashville, TN. While we have enjoyed our time in Tennessee, my wife Angie and I both attended the University of Idaho and have been wanting to move, with our six-year-old son Crosby, back to the family-centered environment of Moscow, ID. This truly is a homecoming for my family.

In my various roles I have learned that education encompasses many elements. I believe as a school we must focus on the entire child and support all means of learning so not only are students exposed to high academic standards, but are also provided an environment that allows for students to feel safe, openly creative, and willing to tackle new obstacles in a variety of settings. It is in this type of environment that students learn to embrace challenges and develop skills that promote a love for the learning and growing process. West Park Elementary has a great tradition of supporting all students in this manner within a wonderfully diverse school community. I will work to continue this tradition with the stellar faculty and staff of West Park Elementary.

I believe that all parents and families play a vital role in the learning process. Family involvement and feedback is essential to developing programs and systems that best support children. I look forward to working collaboratively with the entire school community to continue all of the success West Park Elementary has come to know and celebrate.

As we begin the school year, we will advertise all means of communication available to parents and families. Please know my door is always open. I welcome and encourage your input throughout the school year, so please do not hesitate to reach out.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer break and know we cannot wait to meet you and your child!

Here’s to a great year!

Go Wildcats!
