Welcome to West Park Elementary!

We’re so excited to welcome you and your kindergartener to our school family for the 2025–2026 school year! If you’re receiving this message, your child is registered to start kindergarten at West Park on August 27, 2025.

Please mark your calendar for August 18—this is our Kindergarten Screening Day. On this day, your child will spend about 20 minutes working one-on-one with a kindergarten or Title 1 teacher. These screenings help us to know each child’s learning strengths so we can create balanced classes.

There’s no need to worry about how your child performs—every child starts in a different place, and this just helps us give them the best start possible.

We ask that parents stay in the building during the screening but allow their child to work with the teacher independently. We know some children may feel nervous at first, but our wonderful staff is here to help them feel safe and confident!

You don’t need to bring any supplies for the screener—we’ll have everything ready for your child.

Moscow School District 2025 Summer Food Service Program

The Moscow School District is participating in the 2025 Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children, ages 1-18, without charge. Meals will be provided at Lena Whitmore Elementary School, 110 S. Blaine St., from 11 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday from June 9 through August 15. Please note that meals will not be served on July 4th.
Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

Kindergarten Readiness Checklist

Please feel free to use the attached sheet as a guide of skills to practice over the summer in preparation for school!
We do not expect all of these skills to be mastered before kindergarten. This is simply a guide to help parents best prepare their kiddos.

August 18 – Kindergarten Screening

August 21-Kindergarten Parent Night

6p.m.-7p.m. in the West Park Gym
We ask that at least one parent/guardian of each new kindergarten student attend this important informational meeting in the WPE gym.
We will be covering important school protocols, introducing staff, and tackling many start-of-year questions.
Ideally, this is a parents-only meeting if possible

August 22 - 2025 – 2026 Class Lists

Class lists with teacher and student names will be sent via email and posted on the school doors on Friday, August 22 at 4:00 pm!

August 23 - Kindergarten Play Date

This is open to our incoming Kindergarten students and their parents/guardians. This will be from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Please note, no West Park staff will be on hand.

August 25 - Back to School Night!
